People with autism (ASD), ADHD or similar conditions can drive just as well as anyone else. Because their brains sometimes process information differently, learning to drive may require a little more time or explanation. With the right support during driving lessons, it is perfectly possible for them to obtain their driving licence.
Auto-Maat Driving School specialises in supporting people with autism and ADHD. We are proud of this. As a certified specialist we are registered with rijles-en-autisme.nl, which is part of Spectrum Brabant — a centre for care and education that includes a specialist centre for autism and ADHD.
People diagnosed with AD(H)D and/or autism who want to obtain their driving licence are no longer referred for a medical examination for these conditions from 1 December 2025.
The aim is that AD(H)D and autism will be removed from the CBR Health Declaration on 1 April 2026. During the transition period, people with AD(H)D and/or autism who have no other conditions will not be referred for a medical examination, providing clarity and preventing unnecessary waiting times.
In short, the path to your driving licence has been simplified — and Auto-Maat is your certified specialist and partner every step of the way!
